Female Portrait Photography

Female portrait photography is an art and a craft that has been around since Joseph Niepce first shuttered to think that in 1814 his camera obscura could actually capture a photographic image. The most exciting thing about female portrait photography is that anyone can do it.

Children can do it. Grandmas can do it. Even great grandparents can partake of the fun and adventure in female portrait photography. At its most basic, female portrait photography is simply sitting a girl or woman on a chair and taking her picture.

Have you ever done this? Do you know someone who has? Likely this is the case. If not what rock have you been living under. C'mon! Female portrait photography is so easy even a caveman or woman can do it.

So, give yourself more credit than that! I mean, you're a bit more evolved that a caveman aren't you? Anywho, to move on a bit, let's talk about some of the finer points of female portrait photography.

One finer point one might use is a knife to threaten the woman with so she is willing to sit in the chair while you take her picture. This type of female portrait photography is illegal in many states so check the laws in your area before partaking of the particularly confrontational style of taking photos.

Now, once you have convinced the woman or girl to sit for you, using unreasonable force or otherwise, it is important to put this scared being at ease otherwise your photos will reflect this tension.

Telling her you're joking sometimes helps along with waving some money around and promises for payment when the session is over.

Now, that you have a semi-willing subject before you, how does one engage in superior and artistic female portrait photography? The key is not creativity as you were probably thinking. The key is having the right equipment, or in fact any equipment.

Sitting a girly girl down for a photo session will most always fail when you say to her, "I would like for you to sit down and pose for me as I would like to take some mental pictures of you." No, this won't work.

Don't be cheap. Get yourself a digital camera. Sit the feminine gender down on a stool. Do not take a stool sample. Take a couple of mental pictures just to get warmed up. Then start snapping your real camera.

By doing this you are now engaged in the fine art of female portrait photography. Congratulations, you are no longer a stalker, and may even one day become a star.
